Soggy Lawn Transformed!

Nature knows whats best and is persistent at getting its way. As we got to know Susie's backyard we observed that much of it was quite puggy and one zone was a veritable bog aka a wannabe wetland. We made a proposal to Susie and, once she could afford it, gave us the go ahead to create a miniature wetland skirted by moisture liking edible perennials - nature now seems happy.

Try walking through here in your best black dress shoes and they'd come out brown all over, not to mention your backside as you slip.

Now things are shaping up. Earth trenched from pathways (to allow drainage base course) goes into the wetland 'well' (pictured in centre)

The path is clear now. Ponga edging and greywacke pea-metal paving are ideally suited to the wetland atmosphere and extremely practical, natural, and lasting.

Indeed those red gems are gorgeous strawberries, sweet and juicy.

Rhubarb and sour cherry crumble anyone?

And of course, the whispering wetland in full glory only three months after planting.
